Bathroom Safety Basics: Be a Bathroom Hero!

What makes a bathroom safe and clean?

Welcome students and introduce the topic of bathroom safety. Ask students what rules they already know for school.

Why Rules for the Bathroom?

  1. To stay safe from slips and falls.
  2. To keep our hands clean and germ-free.
  3. To show respect for others and our school.
  4. To make sure everyone feels comfortable!

Explain why it's important to have rules in the bathroom.

Rule #1: Walk, Don't Run!

The bathroom floor can sometimes be wet.
Running can cause you to slip, fall, and get hurt.
Always walk slowly and carefully!

Emphasize walking slowly and carefully in the bathroom.

Rule #2: Flush and Wash Your Hands!

Always flush the toilet after you use it.
Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds (sing 'Happy Birthday' twice!).
Clean hands help stop germs from spreading.

Discuss the importance of flushing and proper handwashing.

Rule #3: Respect & Report

Close the stall door for privacy.
Always tell an adult if you see a mess or a problem.
Be kind and respectful to everyone.

Talk about respecting privacy and telling an adult if there's a problem.

Be a Bathroom Hero!

Remember these rules:

  • Walk, don't run.
  • Flush and wash your hands.
  • Respect privacy and report problems.

You can be a bathroom safety hero!

Quickly review the main points. Ask students to share one rule they remember.
