Step 5

Cool-Down Reflection

5 minutes

  • Ask students to complete the Goal-Setting Reflection worksheet.
  • Reflection prompts:

Routine Rhythm: Finding Your Balance

Welcome! Today we’ll explore how to balance work, rest, and play for a healthier daily routine.

Introduce the concept of balancing daily activities. Engage students by asking: “What comes to mind when you hear ‘daily routine’?”

Example of a Balanced Day

6:30–7:30 Wake up & morning routine (Rest)
7:30–8:30 Commute & breakfast (Work)
8:30–3:00 Classes (Work)
3:00–4:00 Extracurriculars (Play)
4:00–5:00 Homework (Work)
5:00–6:00 Dinner & family time (Rest)
6:00–7:00 Relaxation (Rest)
7:00–8:00 Hobbies (Play)
8:00–9:00 Study/review (Work)
9:00–10:00 Wind down & bedtime (Rest)

Point out how each block fits into Work, Rest, or Play. Encourage students to note any surprises.

Routine Categories

Work: Tasks requiring focus and effort (e.g., homework, studying)

Rest: Activities that recharge you (e.g., sleep, meditation)

Play: Joyful or creative activities (e.g., sports, hobbies)

Define each category clearly. Invite students to call out additional examples of activities for each.

Time Tracker Mapping

• Grab your Time Tracker Template.
• Log every hour of your previous day.
• Color-code entries:
– Blue = Work
– Green = Rest
– Yellow = Play

Explain the mapping process step by step. Show color examples if you can project colored markers.

Group Discussion

In groups of 3–4, discuss:
• Which parts of your day felt balanced?
• Which time blocks felt overwhelming or underused?

Choose one insight or tip to share with the class.

Remind students to follow the Peer Advice Forum norms: listen actively, offer constructive feedback.

Life Balance Blueprint Steps

  1. List your top 3 daily priorities.
  2. Assign time blocks for each priority.
  3. Choose one self-care habit to include.
  4. Schedule short breaks throughout your day.

Refer to the Life Balance Blueprint Plan.

Guide students to draft their blueprint using the provided guidelines.

Reflection and Next Steps

Complete the Goal-Setting Reflection:
• What new habit will you start this week?
• What potential obstacle might you face, and how will you address it?

Be ready to share your key takeaway.

Wrap up the session and invite volunteers to share their reflections.
