Hidden Label Cards

Purpose:
Reinforce classroom vocabulary by having students hunt for word cards hidden around the room and match them to real objects.

  • Print one copy of these cards and cut along the dotted lines to create individual word cards:
    • desk
    • chair
    • door

How to Play (Vocabulary Hunt):

  1. Tell students you’ve hidden classroom word cards around the room.
  2. On your signal, students quietly search for one card and bring it back to the group.
  3. The finder reads the word aloud or you read it together if needed.
  4. Show the real object, say the word as a class, and place the card next to it.
  5. Repeat until all cards are found and matched.

Extensions & Tips:

  • For early readers, say the word together before matching.
  • Add picture icons next to the words for support.
  • Use a timer or friendly competition for an extra challenge.
  • After matching, mix cards and play a memory game by flipping cards face down and finding word–object pairs.
