Autumn Leaf Emotions

Express emotions through art

In this lesson, students will learn to associate emotions with different types of leaves found during autumn. They will draw or collect leaves and write on them emotions they have felt recently. This activity helps students express their feelings in a tangible way and encourages sharing within the group, fostering emotional awareness and empathy.

Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

  • Begin by discussing the changing seasons, focusing on autumn and the variety of leaves.
  • Explain that today, students will use leaves to express their emotions.

Step 2

Leaf Collection or Drawing

10 mins

  • Allow students to either collect leaves from outside or draw different types of leaves on paper.
  • Encourage creativity in choosing or drawing leaves.

Step 3

Emotion Writing

10 mins

  • Ask students to think about emotions they have felt recently.
  • Have them write these emotions on the leaves they collected or drew.
  • Encourage them to use different colors to represent different emotions.

Step 4

Group Sharing

5 mins

  • Gather students in a circle to share their leaves and the emotions they wrote.
  • Encourage students to explain why they chose certain emotions and colors.
