Art History Magic

Learn about famous artists and art movements

In this lesson, students will learn about famous artists and art movements, and then create their own artwork inspired by these styles. This lesson will help students appreciate art history and develop their creativity.

Learn about famous artists and art movements

Materials

Images of famous artworks, Art supplies (paper, markers, crayons, etc.), Discussion Questions, and Worksheet

Step 1

Introduction

10 mins

  • Welcome the students and introduce the topic of art history.
  • Show images of famous artworks and briefly discuss the artists and art movements they belong to.
  • Explain the importance of understanding different art styles and how they can inspire creativity.

Step 2

Discussion

10 mins

  • Use the provided discussion questions to engage students in a conversation about their thoughts on the artworks and artists.
  • Encourage students to share their favorite styles and why they like them.

Step 3

Art Creation Activity

30 mins

  • Provide students with art supplies and ask them to create their own artwork inspired by one of the styles discussed.
  • Encourage them to think about the techniques and elements used by the artists they learned about.
  • Walk around and provide guidance and encouragement as needed.

Step 4

Show and Tell

10 mins

  • Allow students to share their artwork with the class.
  • Encourage them to explain which artist or art movement inspired their work and what they enjoyed about the activity.
