Materials Needed

  • Card stock or construction paper
    - Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
    - Scissors and glue (if needed)
    - Images of animals (optional)





Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Introduction (5 Minutes)

  • Begin by talking about how each animal can have special qualities that remind us of different strengths.
    - Ask students: "What is your favorite animal and why?"





2. Brainstorming Session (5 Minutes)

  • Have students think of the qualities of their favorite animal. What makes that animal unique?
    - Ask guiding questions: "How does this animal make you feel?" and "What strength do you think you share with this animal?"





3. Creating the Card (20 Minutes)

  • Distribute the art supplies and paper.
    - Instruct students to draw or create a collage of their chosen animal on a card.
