Ambassador Awesomeness Unlocked!

What does it mean to represent something important?

Welcome students and introduce the exciting topic of ambassadorship. Ask a question to get them thinking about what it means to represent something important.

What is an Ambassador?

  • A representative: You speak for and show others what your CTE Center is all about!
  • A role model: You set a great example for others.
  • A storyteller: You share your experiences and knowledge.
  • A guide: You help others understand and get involved.

Explain what an ambassador does, focusing on how they represent their school or center and act as a link between it and others.

Enthusiasm & Passion

  • Show your excitement! When you're excited, others get excited too.
  • Believe in your CTE Center. Share what you love about your programs and projects.
  • Positive energy is contagious! Your passion can inspire others.

Discuss why enthusiasm is crucial. How does it make others feel? Give examples of how an ambassador shows passion.

Clear Communication Skills

  • Speak clearly and confidently. Share information in an easy-to-understand way.
  • Listen actively. Pay attention to questions and feedback.
  • Be approachable. Make people feel comfortable asking you questions.
  • Know your facts! Be ready to answer questions about your CTE Center.

Highlight the importance of clear and effective communication. Talk about speaking, listening, and being able to explain things well.

Responsibility & Reliability

  • Be dependable. If you say you'll do something, do it!
  • Be prepared. Know your information and be ready for events.
  • Be professional. Show respect for yourself, your peers, and your center.
  • Take initiative. Look for ways to help and make a difference.

Emphasize being trustworthy and dependable. Discuss punctuality, following through on commitments, and being prepared.

Be an Awesome Ambassador!

You have the power to make a positive impact!

Think about:

  • Which qualities do you already have?
  • Which qualities can you work on?

Every student can be an ambassador for their own success!

Wrap up by reinforcing the idea that these qualities are valuable not just for an ambassador, but in life in general. Encourage them to think about how they can apply these traits.

Introduction & Hook (5 minutes)

(Teacher says while showing CTE Ambassador Slide Deck - Slide 1)

"Good morning, everyone! Today, we're going to dive into something really exciting and important. I want you to think for a moment: What does it mean to represent something important? Maybe your school sports team, a club you're passionate about, or even your family?

(Pause for student responses)

"That's right! It means you're speaking for them, showing what they're all about, and making them look good. Today, we're going to talk about becoming an ambassador for our Career and Technical Education Center. An ambassador is someone who represents our center, shares their experiences, and helps others understand all the amazing things we do here. By the end of this lesson, you'll be able to tell me at least three key things that make a great CTE Ambassador."

Exploring Ambassador Qualities (10 minutes)

(Teacher says while showing CTE Ambassador Slide Deck - Slide 2)

"So, what exactly does an ambassador do? Think of it this way: they are a representative, a role model, a storyteller, and a guide. They are the face and voice of our CTE Center. They help spread the word about all the incredible programs and opportunities available here."

(Teacher says while showing CTE Ambassador Slide Deck - Slide 3)

"Let's talk about our first key quality: Enthusiasm & Passion. If you're going to represent something, you need to be excited about it, right? Why do you think showing excitement and passion is so important when you're trying to get others interested in something?

(Pause for student responses)

"Excellent points! When you're genuinely enthusiastic, it's contagious! People are much more likely to listen and get excited themselves. It shows that you truly believe in what you're representing."

(Teacher says while showing CTE Ambassador Slide Deck - Slide 4)

"Our second quality is Clear Communication Skills. This is huge! As an ambassador, you'll be talking to a lot of different people—younger students, parents, community members. What do you think makes someone a 'clear communicator'?

(Pause for student responses)

"You got it! It means speaking clearly and confidently, being able to explain complex ideas simply, and most importantly, listening to others. You need to be approachable and ready to answer questions, so knowing your facts about the CTE Center is super important."

(Teacher says while showing CTE Ambassador Slide Deck - Slide 5)

"Finally, let's discuss Responsibility & Reliability. This is about being someone people can count on. What does it mean to be a 'responsible' or 'reliable' person, especially when you have an important role like an ambassador?

(Pause for student responses)

"Exactly! It means being dependable, being prepared for events, and always acting professionally. If you commit to something, you follow through. Taking initiative, looking for ways to help without being asked, also shows great responsibility."

Activity: Qualities Worksheet (10 minutes)

"Alright, now that we've talked about these key qualities—Enthusiasm, Communication, and Responsibility—it's time to put your thinking caps on. I'm going to hand out this Ambassador Qualities Worksheet. You can work on it individually or with a partner next to you. The worksheet has different scenarios, and I want you to either identify which ambassador quality is being demonstrated or brainstorm how an ambassador would act in that situation. You have 10 minutes to work on this. I'll be walking around to help if you have any questions."

(Distribute Ambassador Qualities Worksheet. Circulate and provide support.)

Wrap-up & Reflection (5 minutes)

(After 10 minutes, bring the class back together.)

"Time's up! Let's quickly go over a couple of the scenarios from the worksheet.

(Briefly review a few answers from the Ambassador Qualities Worksheet with the class, referencing the CTE Ambassador Answer Key as needed.)

(Teacher says while showing CTE Ambassador Slide Deck - Slide 6)

"Great job, everyone! Remember, being a good ambassador isn't just about a title; it's about embodying qualities that make a positive impact. These aren't just skills for an ambassador, but for life! Think about: Which of these qualities do you already rock? And which ones do you want to work on developing more? Every single one of you can be an ambassador for your own success, both here at the CTE Center and in your future. Thank you!"
