(15 Minutes)

Welcome, everyone! Today we’re going to spend 15 minutes getting to know each other and building our classroom community.

Session Objectives

• Get to know classmates by name and interest
• Share personal facts and stories
• Build a supportive classroom community

Point out each objective and explain why it matters—building friendships helps us learn and have fun together.

Materials

Name Tag Template (1 per student)
• Sticky Notes, Markers, Pens or Pencils
Icebreaker Question Cards

Review the materials at the front or on tables so students can see them.

Introduction (2 min)

  1. I’ll share my name tag and a fun fact.
  2. You’ll create your own name tag.
  3. We’ll move on to partner questions.

Model your own name tag: show your name and a fun image that represents something you love. Then invite students to start.

Name-Tag Creation (4 min)

• Decorate your Name Tag Template.
• Write your name clearly.
• Add drawings or symbols that show your interests.

Circulate around the room, encourage neat writing and creative drawings. Offer prompts if a student is stuck.

Icebreaker Questions (6 min)

  1. Pair up and draw a card from the Icebreaker Question Cards.
  2. Take turns asking and answering.
  3. Every 2 minutes, find a new partner.

Sample questions:

  • What’s your favorite hobby?
  • If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
  • What’s your favorite book or movie?

Encourage students to switch partners every 2 minutes. Prompt shy students to ask the first question.

Wrap-Up (3 min)

• Gather in a circle.

• Celebrate our new connections!

Invite 3–4 volunteers to share something they learned about a classmate. Praise their listening and sharing.
