Agree to Disagree

Build frustration tolerance

This lesson helps preschool children develop frustration tolerance when someone disagrees with them. Through a simple and engaging activity, children will learn to express their feelings and understand others' perspectives, fostering emotional resilience and social skills.

Step 1

Introduction

2 minutes

  • Gather the children in a circle.
  • Briefly explain that sometimes people have different ideas, and that's okay.
  • Introduce the concept of 'agreeing to disagree' in simple terms.

Step 2

Activity: Emotion Cards

5 minutes

  • Show the children a set of Emotion Cards with different facial expressions.
  • Ask them to pick a card that shows how they feel when someone disagrees with them.
  • Encourage them to share why they chose that card.
  • Discuss how it's okay to feel that way and how we can still be friends even if we disagree.

Step 3

Discussion

3 minutes

  • Use the Discussion Questions to guide a conversation about how to handle disagreements.
  • Encourage children to share their thoughts and listen to others.
  • Reinforce the idea that it's okay to have different opinions and that we can still play together.

Step 4

Closure

  • Thank the children for sharing their feelings and ideas.
  • Remind them that it's okay to disagree and that they can always talk about their feelings.
