Affirmation Rainbows

Step 1

Introduction to Affirmations

5 minutes

  • Begin by explaining what affirmations are: positive statements that can help us believe in our abilities and strengths.
  • Share a few examples of affirmations, such as "I am kind," "I am a good friend," or "I can learn new things."
  • Ask students to think about what makes them special or something they are proud of.

Step 2

Crafting the Affirmation Rainbow

15 minutes

  • Distribute colored paper strips, markers, and other materials to each student.
  • Instruct students to write one affirmation on each strip of paper. Encourage them to use different colors for each affirmation.
  • Once the affirmations are written, guide students to arrange the strips in the shape of a rainbow and attach them using glue or tape.
  • Walk around the classroom to assist and encourage students as they work on their rainbows.

Step 3

Reflection and Sharing

5 minutes

  • Invite students to share their rainbows with the class or in small groups.
  • Encourage them to read one or two affirmations aloud and explain why they chose them.
  • Conclude by reinforcing the importance of positive self-talk and how it can help them in their daily lives.
