Affirmation Adventure

Let’s discover how kind words about ourselves can make us feel happy and brave!

Welcome the class with enthusiasm. Introduce yourself and explain that today we're going on an "Affirmation Adventure" to learn how to use positive words to feel good. Show excitement and invite students to join in.

Our Objectives

• Learn what an affirmation is
• Practice saying positive statements
• Create your own affirmation card

Read each objective aloud and explain briefly. Use simple language and point to the words as you say them.

What Are Affirmations?

Affirmations are kind things we say about ourselves:
• I am kind.
• I can learn new things.
• I am brave.
• I am a good friend.

Explain that affirmations are like happy thoughts we say out loud about ourselves. Point to each example and ask students to repeat.

Warm-Up – Mirror Magic

  1. Take your mirror and look at your reflection.
  2. Say one thing you like about yourself (e.g., “I like my smile”).
  3. Notice how saying nice things makes you feel good!

Introduce the Warm-Up activity. Hand out mirrors and demonstrate looking at yourself, saying “I like my smile.” Encourage students to do the same.

Modeling Example

Here’s an example affirmation:
“I am a good friend.”

Watch how I write and say it with confidence!

Model writing an affirmation on the board. Write “I am a good friend,” then read it aloud. Point out the words one by one.

Your Turn – Create Your Affirmation

• Take an affirmation card template and crayons.
• Think of something great about you (e.g., “I am helpful”).
• Draw or write your affirmation on the card.

Pass out the affirmation card templates and crayons. Walk around to support students as they draw or write. Encourage them to think of something special about themselves.

Share & Celebrate

• Show your affirmation to the class.
• Class gives a thumbs-up and says one word (e.g., “Awesome!”).
• Let’s cheer for each other’s great ideas!

Invite volunteers to come forward and show their cards. After each share, ask the class to give a thumbs-up and say one positive word. Offer praise to each student.

Daily Affirmation Routine

Let’s say our class affirmation together:
“I am brave. I am smart. I am me!”

Place your card somewhere you can see it every day.

Lead the entire class in saying the daily affirmation together. Encourage students to take their cards home and practice every morning.
