Step 1

Introduction

Step 2

Station Setup

  • Before class, place the clue cards at various stations around the room.
  • Ensure each clue card has an addition problem that students need to solve to find the next clue.
  • For example, the first clue could be a problem like '3 + 2,' and the answer will indicate where the next clue is hidden.

Step 3

Treasure Hunt

15 mins

  • Split students into small groups and give each group a starting clue.
  • Students solve the addition problem on their clue card and move to the location the answer points to.
  • At each subsequent station, they find a new addition problem to solve until they find the treasure.
  • Assist groups as needed to ensure all students are engaged and understand the problems.

  • Once all groups have found the treasure, gather students back together.
  • Recap the adventure and discuss what they learned about addition.
