This lesson encourages students to understand the importance of staying active through engaging, game-based activities. It will help students comprehend the benefits of physical activity on their overall health and wellness.

Step 1
Icebreaker - Physical Activity Bingo
10 mins
- Distribute Bingo cards with various physical activities written on them (e.g., jumping jacks, running in place, touching toes).
- Explain that students need to complete a line of activities on their Bingo card.
- As students complete each activity, they can mark it off on their card.
- Celebrate loudly when students complete their Bingo lines.
Step 2
Introduction
10 mins
- Begin with a brief talk about the importance of being active.
- Ask students to share their favorite physical activities.
- Highlight how physical activity benefits our heart, muscles, and mood.
Step 3
Activity - Kickball Game
30 mins
- Set up a kickball field using cones or markers for bases.
- Explain the rules of kickball: kicking, running bases, and fielding.
- Divide the students into two teams and start the game.
- Encourage students to support and cheer for one another, and emphasize the importance of teamwork.
Step 4
Discussion - Reflecting on the Activities
10 mins
- Gather the students and sit in a circle.
- Use the printed discussion questions to facilitate a conversation about the activities they enjoyed, what they found challenging, and how being active makes them feel.
- Encourage students to think about other ways they can stay active at home or in their communities.
- Summarize the key points about the importance of being active.
- Remind students to find ways to stay active every day.
- Thank the students for their participation and energy.
