Step 1

Introduction with Icebreaker

15 mins

Welcome students and briefly discuss the importance of physical activity. Start with an icebreaker activity such as 'Charades' where students take turns drawing slips of paper with actions or characters written on them and acting them out while others guess. This helps to create a friendly atmosphere. Then, explain the activities planned for the lesson.

30 mins

  1. Divide into Teams: Split the students into two teams, ensuring balanced skill levels on each team.

  2. Set Up the Game: If playing soccer, set up two goals using cones or markers. If playing basketball, ensure the court is ready and explain the basic rules.

  3. Explain the Rules: Briefly go over the rules of the game:

    • Soccer: No hands, only feet. The objective is to score by getting the ball into the opposing team's goal.
    • Basketball: Dribble the ball while moving, and aim to score by shooting the ball into the opposing team's hoop.
  4. Emphasize Teamwork: Encourage students to communicate with their teammates, pass the ball, and support each other.

  5. Game Play: Start the game and use a whistle to manage the playtime. Ensure all students get a chance to participate actively.

  6. Encouragement: Throughout the game, encourage students to cheer for their teammates and show good sportsmanship.
