Friendship Formula

In this 45-minute lesson for a 4th grade class, students explore the elements of healthy friendships through collaborative activities, discussions, and co-creation of a class friendship contract. Using CASEL competencies, learners identify key friendship factors and apply social-emotional skills to build positive relationships. This Tier 1 lesson helps the whole class develop communication, empathy, and cooperation skills.

This three-session, 20-minute-per-session individual lesson guides a 2nd grader to recognize and share feelings, practice perspective-taking, and apply empathy through a creative project. Includes game-based learning, a hands-on kindness project, worksheet practice, and a clear rubric.

In this SEL-focused lesson for 6th graders, students will explore how small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect in their community through interactive discussions, a collaborative project, and personal reflections. Over 40-minute sessions, students will learn about the CASEL competencies and develop relationship skills, social awareness, and responsible decision-making. Tier 1 support for the whole class.

This Tier 2 small-group lesson for 6th graders focuses on CASEL’s social awareness competency. In a single 25-minute session, students will practice seeing situations from another person’s perspective through guided discussion and role-playing activities, building kindness and empathy in everyday interactions.

In this one-session (30-minute) Tier 1 lesson, 4th graders reflect on their feelings about wrapping up the school year and transitioning to 5th grade. By creating a safe, validating space, students share openly, build empathy, and normalize a mix of emotions as they prepare for next year.
