In this 45-minute lesson, young adults with developmental delays and intellectual disabilities will learn how to ask follow-up questions, use WH-questions, and make connected comments to keep conversations flowing. These skills boost social confidence and improve meaningful interactions.

Students will explore implied meanings, sarcasm, and jokes to better interpret everyday speech and improve social communication. This Tier 1 lesson for 8th graders spans one 40-minute session and uses engaging slides, readings, discussions, and worksheets to build pragmatic language skills.
