Activity

Personalized Welcome Activity

Welcome to the activity! This quick and engaging task is designed to greet our special 3rd grade student and invite them to share a fun fact about themselves, making them feel truly recognized.

Instruction for the Activity

  1. Warm Greeting: Start with a smile and greet the student by name. Use kind words and positive body language to show that they are important and valued.

  2. Personalized Question: Ask the student a fun, light question such as "What is something that makes you smile today?" or "What is one thing you are really good at?" Encourage them to elaborate or share additional details if they feel comfortable.

  3. Listen and Acknowledge: Actively listen to the student's response. After they share, offer praise and acknowledgement. For example, say, "That's wonderful to hear!" or "I love how you did that!"

  4. Reflect Together: Briefly reflect on what was shared by asking a follow-up question or summarizing their thoughts. This reinforces their feeling of importance and builds trust.

Teacher Tip: Use a positive tone throughout and maintain eye contact to further affirm the student's value in your classroom. You can also refer back to this conversation in future activities to boost ongoing engagement.

Great job! You are making your student feel special and welcome.

  2. Share: Use your own words to describe your feelings. You can write a sentence or two in the space provided below. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers — just share how you felt.
