👑 Princess Power: Speak Your Sparkle! 👑
Discover Your Royal Voice!
Welcome to an enchanted journey where we'll learn to express ourselves with confidence and clarity, just like our favorite princesses!
Welcome Jaskiran to our special session! Start with a warm greeting and express excitement for today's adventure. Introduce the theme: 'Princess Power: Speak Your Sparkle!' Ask Jaskiran what her favorite princess is and why she likes them. Connect the idea of princesses being brave and having unique voices to our lesson today. Explain that today, we'll discover our own 'sparkle' when we communicate.
🌟 Our Royal Quest Today 🌟
Objective:
- Learn different ways to share your thoughts and feelings.
- Practice listening to others carefully.
- Feel more confident speaking up!
Why it Matters:
- Sharing your voice helps others understand you.
- It helps you make friends and solve problems!
- You have important things to say, just like a royal!
Explain the objective clearly to Jaskiran. 'Today, we're going to explore how to share our thoughts and feelings, listen carefully to others, and talk about different situations, all while thinking about our favorite princesses!' Emphasize that this will help her feel more confident in talking during our sessions and with others. Relate it to how princesses need to communicate to solve problems or make friends.
🗣️ What is 'Sparkling Communication'?
Sharing Messages with Words and More!
Communication is how we share our thoughts, feelings, and ideas with others. It's like sending a special message!
How do we communicate?
- Talking: Using our words.
- Listening: Hearing what others say.
- Body Language: How our faces and bodies look.
- Writing/Drawing: Putting our thoughts on paper.
Think about how princesses communicate!
Ask Jaskiran, 'What does 'communication' mean to you?' Guide her to understand that it's about sharing messages with words, expressions, and even how we stand. Use princess examples: 'How does Ariel communicate before she has her voice? How does Rapunzel communicate her wishes?' Explain that communication helps us connect with others, like a princess connecting with her animal friends or a prince.
Watch this video to see how princesses (and princes!) use their voices to connect with the world around them.
Introduce the video. 'Sometimes, even princesses need to learn how to express themselves or understand others better. Let's watch a short video that might give us some inspiration!' Play a relevant princess-themed video about communication (e.g., a clip where a princess expresses herself, or a short animation about listening). After the video, ask: 'What did the princess in the video do well? What did she learn about speaking up or listening? How can you be like her?' Suggested video: A short clip from Disney's 'Brave' where Merida tries to communicate with her mother, or a 'Princess Stories About Friendship' clip emphasizing listening and sharing. A good search term for YouTube could be 'Disney princesses communication skills for kids'.
👂 The Art of Royal Listening 👂
Listening is just as important as speaking!
When we listen actively, we show others we care about what they are saying.
How to be a Royal Listener:
- Look at the person: Make eye contact (if comfortable).
- Nod your head: Show you understand.
- Think about their words: Don't interrupt.
- Ask questions: If something isn't clear.
Listen with your heart and your ears!
Explain active listening. 'A good princess doesn't just talk; she listens too! When we truly listen, we give people our full attention.' Demonstrate good listening: eye contact, nodding, asking clarifying questions. 'When you are listening to me, how do you show me you are listening?' Ask Jaskiran to practice active listening while you talk about her favorite princess's castle or gown.
💖 Expressing Your Royal Feelings 💖
Your feelings are important, and so is sharing them!
It's okay to feel happy, sad, excited, or even frustrated. The trick is to share your feelings in a way that helps others understand you.
How to share your feelings like a true princess:
- Use 'I feel' statements: "I feel happy when..." or "I feel a little sad because..."
- Say what you need: "I need a moment to think" or "Could you please help me with...?"
- Use a calm voice: Even if you feel strong emotions.
Your feelings are a part of your strength!
Discuss how to express feelings clearly. 'Sometimes, princesses feel happy, sometimes sad, sometimes even frustrated! It's okay to feel all these things, and it's important to share them in a helpful way.' Use 'I feel...' statements. 'Instead of saying 'You make me mad!' a princess might say 'I feel upset when this happens because...' ' Practice with Jaskiran: 'How would Elsa express her feelings about her powers? How would Cinderella express her wish to go to the ball?'
🏰 Royal Role Play: Practice Time! 🏰
Let's practice our communication skills with some royal situations!
Scenario 1: You want to ask a friend to play with your new royal doll, but you feel a little shy.
Scenario 2: You made a beautiful drawing, but someone accidentally spilled water on it. You feel sad and a bit angry.
Scenario 3: You're working on a project with a friend, and you both have different ideas. How do you share your idea and listen to theirs?
What would a smart princess do or say?
Introduce some simple princess-themed scenarios. 'Imagine you are a princess, and you are in these situations. How would you use your communication skills?' Present one scenario at a time and ask Jaskiran to role-play or describe her response. Provide gentle guidance and praise for her efforts. Examples: 'You want to play with a new friend, but you don't know what to say.' or 'Someone took your favorite royal accessory without asking.'
✨ Your Communication Crown ✨
Remember your Royal Communication Tips:
- Speak Clearly: Let your voice be heard!
- Listen Actively: Hear what others truly mean.
- Express Feelings: Use "I feel" statements.
- Practice, Practice, Practice: The more you try, the more confident you'll become!
You're becoming a communication superstar!
Summarize the key takeaways. 'Today, we learned so much about communicating like a princess! We learned to speak up, listen, and share our feelings.' Reiterate the importance of practice. 'Just like a princess practices her royal duties, we need to practice our communication skills.' Praise Jaskiran for her participation and effort throughout the lesson.
💖 Ready for Your Royal Reflection? 💖

Reading
The Princess Who Found Her Voice
In a land of whispering winds and sun-kissed meadows lived Princess Aurora, known for her beautiful gowns and her gentle nature. But there was a secret Aurora kept close to her heart: she often felt shy when it was time to speak. Her thoughts were like bright, colorful butterflies fluttering in her mind, but they rarely flew out into the world. When her royal advisors asked her opinion, she would nod or offer a quiet smile.
One day, a grand ball was announced! Princess Aurora wanted to suggest a new, joyful dance that celebrated all the unique talents in the kingdom. It was an amazing idea, but she worried no one would listen. Her friend, a wise old owl named Hoot, noticed her worry.
"Aurora," Hoot hooted softly, "your ideas are like hidden treasures. They can only shine if you share them." He told her about brave princesses from other stories who used their voices, not just for singing, but for leading, for caring, and for sharing their true selves.
Aurora decided to try. She practiced what she wanted to say in front of her mirror, imagining her reflection as her kindest friend. She thought about how her words could make a difference, just like adding a new ribbon to a beautiful braid. The next day, at the royal meeting, Aurora took a deep breath. Her heart fluttered, but she remembered Hoot's words and the images of strong princesses.
She began, "Your Majesties, I have an idea for the ball..." Her voice was a little soft at first, but as she spoke about the joyful dance and how it would make everyone feel included, her words grew stronger, like a sparkling waterfall. She explained her vision, describing the music and the movements. She even used her hands to show some of the dance steps!
To her surprise and delight, the advisors listened intently. They loved her idea! The new dance became the highlight of the ball, bringing joy to all. From that day on, Princess Aurora knew that her voice was one of her most precious royal treasures. She learned that even if her thoughts felt shy at first, speaking them out loud, clearly and bravely, allowed her inner sparkle to truly shine.
Reflection Questions:
- What was Princess Aurora's problem at the beginning of the story?
- Who helped Aurora understand the importance of sharing her ideas?
- How did Aurora prepare to speak up at the royal meeting?
- What did Aurora learn about her voice and sharing her thoughts?
- Can you think of a time when you had a great idea but felt shy to share it? What happened? (Optional)

Discussion
Royal Court Conversation: Speaking Your Truth
Welcome to our royal court! Today, we'll practice sharing our thoughts and listening to each other, just like wise advisors in a kingdom.
Discussion Prompts:
-
If you could give advice to a new princess about how to make friends and be understood, what would you tell her?
-
Imagine you are a stylist for a princess, and you have a fantastic idea for a new hairstyle, but the princess wants something different. How would you respectfully share your idea and also listen to her preferences?
-
What is a situation where it might be difficult for a princess to speak her mind? How do you think she could find the courage to do it?
-
How do you know when someone is really listening to you? What makes you feel heard?
-
If you had a magic mirror that could help you communicate better, what one communication skill would you ask it to help you with, and why?

Activity
Sparkle Strand Expression Activity: Braid Your Thoughts!
Just like a princess can style her hair in many ways, you can express your thoughts and feelings in many different ways too! Let's create our own 'Sparkle Strands' to show off our communication styles.
Materials Needed:
- Colorful construction paper cut into long strips (or different colored yarn/ribbons)
- Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
- Scissors (if cutting paper strips during the activity)
- (Optional) Glitter, stickers, or other decorative items to add 'sparkle'
Instructions:
-
Choose Your Strands: Pick 3-5 colorful strips of paper or pieces of yarn. Each strand will represent a different way you communicate or a feeling you want to express.
-
Label Your Strands: On each paper strip (or verbally for yarn), write down one of the following:
- A feeling you often have (e.g., Happy, Shy, Excited, Confused)
- A way you like to communicate (e.g., Talking, Drawing, Listening, Showing)
- Something you want to get better at (e.g., Asking for help, Sharing ideas, Speaking louder)
-
Add Your Sparkle: Decorate each strand! Use markers to draw pictures, add patterns, or write descriptive words that show what that communication 'sparkle' looks like or feels like to you. If using yarn, you can tie on small beads or simply describe the 'color' of that communication.
-
Share Your Strands: Hold up each 'Sparkle Strand' one by one. Tell me:
- What does this strand represent?
- When do you use this communication sparkle?
- How does it help you express yourself?
- If it's a feeling, how do you usually show it?
-
Braid Your Communication: (Optional, if using pliable materials) Try to gently braid or twist your strands together. This symbolizes how all our different ways of communicating work together to make our unique voice strong and beautiful!
Remember, every strand adds to the beautiful story you share with the world!
