Spring Blossoms Collage

Learn about composition and color blending

In this lesson, students will create vibrant collages using tissue paper to mimic the blooming flowers of spring. This activity will help them learn about composition and color blending while expressing their creativity. It is important as it encourages fine motor skills, creativity, and an appreciation for nature.

Tissue paper in various colors, Glue sticks, Construction paper, Scissors, and Discussion Guide

Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

  • Gather students in a circle.
  • Briefly discuss the season of spring and what happens during this time (flowers bloom, weather gets warmer).
  • Show examples of blooming flowers and discuss their colors and shapes.

Step 2

Discussion on Spring

5 mins

  • Use the Discussion Guide to ask questions about spring and flowers.
  • Encourage students to share their favorite springtime activities and flowers.

Step 3

Collage Creation

15 mins

  • Distribute materials: tissue paper, glue sticks, construction paper, and scissors.
  • Demonstrate how to tear or cut tissue paper into small pieces.
  • Show how to arrange and glue the pieces onto construction paper to create a flower collage.
  • Encourage students to experiment with different colors and shapes.

Closure and Showcase

  • Have students clean up their work area.
  • Invite students to share their collages with the class.
  • Discuss what they enjoyed about the activity and what they learned about spring and flowers.
