Reading

Our Ocean Friends!

The ocean is a giant, watery home for so many amazing creatures! Let's learn about some common animals that live there.

Sharks: The Ocean's Hunter

Sharks are big fish with strong bodies and sharp teeth. They are very good swimmers and can move quickly through the water. Sharks are at the top of the food chain, which means they help keep other ocean animal populations healthy.

Dolphins: Smart and Playful

Dolphins are very smart mammals that live in the ocean. They love to play and often jump out of the water! Dolphins communicate with each other using special clicks and whistles. They are known for being very friendly animals.

Crabs: Shell-Protected Scavengers

Crabs are crustaceans with a hard shell that protects their soft bodies. They have ten legs, and their front two legs usually have strong claws. Crabs often walk sideways! They help keep the ocean clean by eating small pieces of food they find on the ocean floor.

Starfish: Not a Fish!

Even though it has "fish" in its name, a starfish is not actually a fish! It's an echinoderm, and it lives on the ocean floor. Starfish usually have five arms, but some can have many more! They can even regrow an arm if it gets lost.

Jellyfish: Floaters of the Deep

Jellyfish have soft, see-through bodies that float and drift in the water. They have long tentacles that hang down. These tentacles help them catch small food. Jellyfish don't have brains, hearts, or bones!
