Kindness Calendars

Instill the value of kindness

In this lesson, students will create a 'Kindness Calendar' filled with daily acts of kindness they can perform at school, home, or in their community. This activity is designed to instill the value of giving and positive action, especially during the month leading up to the holidays. By engaging in this activity, students will learn the importance of kindness and how small actions can make a big difference in their lives and the lives of others.

Step 1

Introduction to Kindness

5 minutes

  • Begin by discussing the concept of kindness with the students.
  • Ask students to share examples of kind acts they have experienced or performed.
  • Explain the importance of kindness in our daily lives and how it can positively impact others.

Step 2

Creating the Kindness Calendar

20 minutes

  • Distribute the 'Printable Kindness Calendar Template' to each student.
  • Instruct students to brainstorm and write down one act of kindness for each day leading up to the holidays.
  • Encourage creativity and diversity in their acts of kindness, such as helping a friend, sharing a toy, or saying thank you.
  • Allow students to decorate their calendars with markers, crayons, and other art supplies.

Step 3

Sharing and Reflection

10 minutes

  • Have students share some of their favorite acts of kindness from their calendars with the class.
  • Facilitate a discussion on how they feel about performing these acts and how it might affect others.
  • Encourage students to take their calendars home and try to complete each act of kindness.
