In this lesson, students will create a paper chain where each link represents a kind act they performed or witnessed. Step 1
Introduction to Kindness
5 minutes
- Gather students in a circle and ask them what kindness means to them.
- Share a simple story or example of a kind act.
- Explain that today they will create a 'Friendship Chain of Kindness' to celebrate kind acts.
Step 2
Creating the Kindness Chain
10 minutes
- Distribute colored paper strips and markers to each student.
- Instruct students to write or draw a kind act they did or saw on each strip.
- Assist students in connecting their strips using glue or tape to form a chain.
- Encourage students to share their kind acts as they add their links to the chain.
Step 3
Reflection and Sharing
5 minutes
- Once the chain is complete, hang it in the classroom as a visual reminder of kindness.
- Invite a few students to share their favorite kind acts from the chain.
- Conclude with a brief discussion on how they can continue to show kindness every day.
