Slide Deck

Welcome! What Face Are You Making?

Let's make some faces together!

  • A surprised face!
  • A silly face!
  • A tired face!

Welcome students and get them ready to think about faces and feelings. Ask them to make different faces along with you.

What Do You See in a Feeling Face?

Our faces can show how we feel inside!

Let's look at some faces and guess the feelings!

Introduce the concept that our faces show how we feel. Ask them what they think the person on the slide is feeling and why.

A Happy Face!

I see a big smile!

This person feels HAPPY! 😊

Show the happy face. Ask: 'What do you see?' 'How do you know this person is happy?' Point out the smile and bright eyes.

A Sad Face...

I see a frown and maybe tears...

This person feels SAD. 😢

Show the sad face. Ask: 'What do you see?' 'How do you know this person is sad?' Point out the downturned mouth and possibly tears.

An Angry Face!

I see tight lips and squished eyebrows!

This person feels ANGRY! 😠

Show the angry face. Ask: 'What do you see?' 'How do you know this person is angry?' Point out the furrowed brows and tight mouth.

Happy, Sad, Angry!

We can see happy, sad, and angry feelings on our faces!

Let's try making these faces!

Review the three emotions. Ask students to make each face with you.

Your Turn to Draw!

Now it's your turn to draw feeling faces on your worksheet!

Show me a happy, a sad, and an angry face!

Transition to the activity. Explain that they will draw faces to show these feelings on their worksheets.

All Feelings Are Okay!

It's okay to feel happy, sad, or angry.

Our faces help us show how we feel!

Conclude by reminding students that all feelings are okay and our faces help us show them.
