Prep

Prepare Materials

Review the Rupture and Repair Slides and practice the Rupture and Repair Script to familiarize yourself with the content.
- Print copies of the Understanding Ruptures Reading and Repair Steps Worksheet for each student, or prepare to share them digitally.
- Ensure whiteboard or projector is ready for displaying slides.
- Prepare any necessary props or space for the Role-Play Activity and Relationship Repair Game.

Step 1

Introduction: What Breaks?

2 minutes

Begin with a quick warm-up question: "What's something that can break, and how do you fix it?" (e.g., a broken toy, a scraped knee).
- Transition to relationships: "Relationships can also have 'breaks' or 'ruptures.' Today, we're going to learn about how to mend them."
- Introduce the term 'rupture' using Rupture and Repair Slides (Slide 1-2) and the Rupture and Repair Script.

Understanding Ruptures

3 minutes

Distribute the Understanding Ruptures Reading.
- Briefly discuss common causes of ruptures in friendships (e.g., misunderstandings, forgotten promises, unkind words).
- Use Rupture and Repair Slides (Slide 3) and the Rupture and Repair Script to guide the discussion with some initial questions from Discussion Questions.

Step 3

Steps to Repair

5 minutes

Introduce the concept of 'repair' and the key steps: Acknowledge, Apologize, Act. (Refer to Rupture and Repair Slides Slide 4-6).
- Distribute the Repair Steps Worksheet and have students briefly jot down ideas for each step in a hypothetical scenario.
- Facilitate a brief discussion using Discussion Questions about why each step is important.
- Explain the three 'A's of repair: Acknowledge, Apologize, Act, as detailed in the Rupture and Repair Script.

Step 4

Practice & Application

3 minutes

Engage students in a short Role-Play Activity where they practice one of the repair steps.
- Briefly introduce the Relationship Repair Game as a fun way to practice these skills further.
- Use Rupture and Repair Slides (Slide 7) and the Rupture and Repair Script to guide.
