Slide Deck

From Group to Classroom

Today, we’ll bring our Calm and Conflict Plans from small groups into our whole-class setting. We’ll:\n• Share highlights from our plans\n• Practice with one last scenario\n• Complete our post-assessment\n• Set a measurable goal and celebrate our growth!

Welcome students and explain today’s focus: sharing our Calm and Conflict Plans and practicing our self-regulation strategies in real classroom scenarios.

Final Conflict Scenario

Anna and Malik are playing catch at recess. Malik throws the ball too hard, and Anna gets bumped and feels upset.\nWhat Calm and Conflict steps will Anna use?

Display a simple illustrated scenario showing two students at recess bumping into each other and getting upset. Read the scenario aloud.

Apply Your Steps

  1. Identify the feeling\n2. Choose a strategy (e.g., deep breaths, counting)\n3. Use your words to solve the problem\n4. Check how you feel now

Prompt students to write or draw which Calm and Conflict steps they’d use. Circulate and support.

Post-Assessment

Rate how confident you feel using each step: 1 (Not yet confident) to 5 (Very confident)\n• Knowing my feeling words\n• Choosing a calm-down strategy\n• Using my words in a conflict\n• Checking in on my feelings afterward

Guide students to complete the Likert-style post-assessment. Explain each question clearly.

Set Your Measurable Goal

Example: “I will take 3 deep breaths when I feel upset during indoor play.”\nNow you write one goal for class or home!

Explain the SMART goal structure with a simple example. Then have students write their own goal on sticky notes.

Celebrate & Share

• Place your goal on our Goal Wall\n• Give a peer a shout-out for their strategy or goal\n• Remember: Growth takes practice!

Have students post their sticky-note goals on a classroom “Goal Wall.” Encourage quick shout-outs.
