This recognition affirms the growth and direction I strive to bring to the teams I serve as a Mental Health leader. It reinforces the belief that with a clear plan and open lines of communication, we can respond to student needs more efficiently and with greater personalization. It’s also a celebration of the incredible collaboration among our district’s School Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselors, Social Workers, School Nurses, and Mental Health Police Officers — all of whom are deeply committed to the health and wellness of our students.
Yvette Trevino is the Director of Health & Wellness for Somerset ISD, where she leads both the counseling and nursing teams to create a unified, districtwide student support system. She developed a clear suicidal ideation protocol, built a structured MTSS-aligned mental health framework, and launched the Thrive Center—a centralized hub for Tier 3 services and wraparound care. Yvette’s leadership bridges physical and emotional wellness, ensuring no student falls through the cracks based on their campus or entry point. Her systems-level work exemplifies what it means to build connected, responsive supports across an entire district.
