“Being recognized for my work in mental health leadership means so much to me—both personally and professionally. This honor is deeply personal because it reflects the journey I’ve been on, not just to support others, but to care for my own mental health along the way. There was a time when life’s challenges and past trauma weighed heavily on me, threatening to take over my thoughts and daily life. But I made a choice—to take control, to heal, and to turn my pain into purpose. That decision changed everything. It opened doors for me to pour into my colleagues, my students, and their families with greater compassion, understanding, and strength. So, this award isn’t just recognition—it’s a reflection of a lifestyle I’ve chosen to live every day. A lifestyle rooted in hope, healing, and empowerment. I’m truly grateful to be able to use my journey to inspire and uplift others on theirs.”
