“Being recognized is a personal honor as much as it is an honor for our School Board, the Administrators and staff of JVPS for their equal effort and support. This will serve as a recognition of the collective and shared leadership towards effecting a positive change in the school culture and the community as a whole in terms of highlighting and addressing mental health in the forefront of the education of each of our students. It also serves as a reminder that the work is just beginning and should not stop, but instead create more leaders – formal or informal leaders – within the classroom, the district campus and the greater community.”

Eudore Camata is the superintendent of Jemez Valley Public Schools, where he leads districtwide mental health efforts across a rural, PreK–12 system serving 280 students. He’s launched a school-based mental health clinic, trained all staff in trauma-informed care, and built a peer mentorship program that empowers students to support one another. Eudore has also expanded learning pathways for students in crisis and embedded wraparound services into the district’s strategic plan. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to mental health equity, creatively leveraging limited resources to build systems of support that reach every student.
